Overview   

How to be a great Leader is a video of an interview with Simon Sinek who described as a visionary thinker with a rare intellect, Simon’s goal is to help build a world in which the vast majority of people go home every day feeling fulfilled by their work. He is the author of two bestselling books: Start With Why and Leader Eat Last. He speaks around the globe and has commented for the local and national press.

The interview’s host Marie Forleo started the interview by asking Simon about his beginning what he was doing and how that experience led to his understanding and the whole concept of starting with why. So, he started to explain that the concept of why was not an academic concept, and he did not study it, but he realized it from his experience. The video was very inspiring, and I have learned many things from it.

Four things I have learned  about Leadership:

 

    • First thing

I have learned that to be successful in your work you should know that the leadership is so important because leadership will create an environment that can create relationship full of trust and cooperation between the work members. Simon talked about the power of the environment because according to him “when we get the environment right humans will do remarkable things.” So, the basic idea was that human are social animals and our happiness, success, joy and everything is dependent on our relationships, and we respond to the environment we are in. Leaders are responsible for building that environment. If the leaders create an environment in which people feel safe amongst their own, the natural human response to those conditions is trust and cooperation and vice versa.

The second thing

Was that leadership is not about being in charge it is about taking care of those in your charge. It is the leader responsibility to take care of them, make them feel safe, and they will naturally want to cooperate and work hard to advance the leader’s vision.

The third thing

I have learned. That if we want to know whether we consider ourselves in a leadership role or not, we should answer the question of “how safe do you feel where you work?”.  The word safe here does not mean you can’t get in trouble, but at least you work in an environment where the employees have the opportunity to build their confidence and the opportunity to interact and build strong relationships. This the meaning of feeling safe that the I love people I work with, I love where I work, I enjoy going there.

The last thing I learned that

we are designed to take care of each other, and we feel good when we look after other people.

*My take away from this video is:  (we are all designed to be leaders). And not just for the business but in the whole life “like a parent, coach, or a teacher, the leadership is about taking care of people who you are responsible for, and when you give those people a good environment their response will be trust of you and trying to cooperate with you.
