How SEO makes everything better

SEO Search Engine OptimizationAnyone can have a website, and anyone can post things on it. But in order to really make an impact on your business, your website and its content should be polished, clear, and easy to access. One of the many tools that help to create a page that successfully drives traffic is Search Engine Optimization. SEO helps people to find or come across your content when they look for subject related content on the Internet. In the beginning it can be overwhelming to see how many different aspects one needs to consider to approach a good SEO. But let me tell you about the most important things to look at, that with little effort can make an immense impact:

Good Content

Seems like an easy equation: people are searching the Internet for good content. So, provide them with nothing less. Search engines are smarter than we think, and do more than we can explain. But they definitely know when someone is throwing around nonsense.

Title

Titles to any page and any posts should be clear, short, and trigger some interest. Ideally, the title picks up the focus keyword of the SEO.

Focus Keyword

This is what people typically put into their searches. You want your site to pop-up when someone searches for what your content is about. So setting a keyword that incorporates the most important subject to your content is very beneficial.

The Snippet

Consider what you want people to see when your site appears as Google search result. Other than just simply let the search engine display what you’ve written on the page, make a custom snippet. You can change the title, the descriptive information, and even the URL. Make use of the level of individuality, and use keywords and information to your advantage in order to rank high in searches.

Tags, tags, tags!

Tagging your graphics makes your, the search engine’s, and the readers’ lives so much easier:

Alt Tags (Alternative text)

That’s the information you provide for search engines about your images. As they cannot see images the way we do, it is useful to describe what your images show in order for the search engine to “see” what’s on there.

OG Tags (Open Graph protocol)

Open Graph protocols are helping to display images of links that are shared. When you send someone a link via text message, or you share it on Twitter, most likely the link is accompanied by a picture from the post/page/website. It’s the OG tags that make sure that this picture appears.

Keep them on your site with internal links

You want people to spend as much time as possible on your page. In order to do that, use your posts for internal links to other content on your page. Related older posts, resource pages, content from other authors. Whatever fits with your content and makes a good pair should be visually connected for the reader.
